The Optimism Kovan network will be undergoing an upgrade expected to start on or around 17:30 UTC on October 14, 2021, and to be completed within 4-6 hours. This testnet regenesis is an opportunity to make sure everyone can transition onto mainnet smoothly.

This is part of the Optimism regenesis (OVM 2.0) and will there are a few important changes to note:
❌ Unverified contracts will be wiped out
❌ ETH will no longer be ERC20 compatible
❌ EOAs will no longer be contract wallets

During this time, the Alchemy Optimism API will also experience downtime.
